September 3rd, 2004 Dear Parents, We have had a great first full week of school. The students are getting into the routine of changing classes and opening lockers. We're seeing fewer and fewer sleepy faces in the morning - on teachers as well as students. We are working very hard on organizational skills. Keeping up with assignment notebooks is a key to success so whatever you can do at home to reinforce that is appreciated. In science class we are studying the scientific process and are building our own "PT's" - (paper things) using controls and changing variables. We will test them Tuesday. Math 6 classes are working on factors of numbers. Knowing multiplication facts is very important in this unit so if you and your child have a few extra minutes waiting in the car, quiz them on their multiplication tables. Transition math has begun making graphs to represent data collections. In language arts, students are working on their first writing piece. Reading Feat #1 is due on Tuesday, September 7th. For social studies they are reviewing world geography and will be having a quiz next week. Please look for a study guide to come home. A quick note - school pictures are scheduled for Friday, September 10th so schedule those haircuts! We will be sending out this newsletter next week by e-mail to those parents that selected that medium. Please let us know if your e-mail changes or if you want to be added or deleted from this list. Homework is posted every day on the team website.
