- Cleared and maintained foot trails through wooded and marshy wild areas with regularly numbered stations at points of biological, geological, or historical significance.

- 1999. Recipient of $7000 At-Risk Grant from Montgomery County Public Schools and the Virginia Department of Education. Gant title: Science Education Rooted in Horticulture.
- 2000. Recipient of $2000 1420 Foundation Grant for the continuation of the above at-risk grant.
- 2002. Co-recipient of Technology Grant from the United Stated Department of Agriculture for the development of a GPS guided tractor with the ultimate goal of fostering interest in Agricultural Engineering.
- 2002. Participant in the ROLE Grant program through the Center for Human Computer Interaction at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.
