Wouldn't the hole in the bottom of the lake have something to do with this? From the information that i found there is no actual outflow source to mountain lake except for evaportaion and this hole in the bottom of the lake. So if theres no way for the pollution to get out then that would explain why there is so much more there than at pandapas where there are two streams leading out of the pond.
