Getting your network to work at home and at school on your Mac


  • Open up the system preferences panel (this is in the task bar at the bottom of the screen)
  • Click on the network icon

  • Click on the Location box and select New Location...

  • Create a name for the new location, such as School or BMS
  • If this is your school account, select Built-In Ethernet, from the box just below the location box
  • Click on the Proxies tab
  • Check the boxes next to Secure Proxy and Web Proxy.
  • Put in the proxy address and port. On the MCPS network, the proxy address is 198.82.201.19 and the port is 8002.
  • In general you should not check the box next to "SOCKS".
  • Click on apply changes
  • When at home, if your network worked automatically before, simply the location back to automatic.

IMPORTANT!!

Make sure that Netscape or Internet Explorer is CLOSED and the application is not currently running the background

If it is running any changes you make will not affect it.
