Calling All Volunteers!Would you like to volunteer to teach children about the great outdoors? You can lead local 3rd and 4th grade children on a hike into the George Washington National Forest. You can be a guide to exploring life as a wild animal (snake, hawk, opossum, or owl) with the help of a live, non-releasable wild "teacher." You will help teach children about one of the animals, what they need to survive, what they eat, where they live, how we can protect them, and so much more. The Wildlife Center is always looking for new volunteers or "Docents" that can help on Wednesdays from about 8AM to 2PM and are able to hike a mile trail. Curriculum and training is provided and will take place on September 13, 2006. Contact the Education Department at edu@wildlifecenter.org or call 540-942-9453 for more information. Can't work on Wednesdays? You can still be involved. The Wildlife Center is always looking for people with other various talents. Some other volunteer positions include Animal Care Volunteers, Group/ Tour Leaders, Carpentry Volunteers, Transporters, and other special volunteers. For more information, please visit the Wildlife Center Volunteer Opportunities website. Click here to go there now. |
