Workspace

The project workspace provides a window for managing a set of documents associated with a project. It also provides a list of which project members are logged in and a persistent chat for team communication.

There are three main areas to the workspace: the timeline, the bottom bar and the concept map. Descriptions of those three main areas follow below. Dragable vertical and horizontal sliders allow you to resize those main areas. The small triangles on the sliders allow you to quickly expand or minimize those main areas.

Some suggestions when opening the workspace:
  1. Look at the timeline and see if any documents have changed or been added since you logged in last.
  2. Look for new and upcoming events on the timeline.
  3. Look to see if any chat has occurred since your last login.

Timeline

Across the top of the workspace is the timeline. It provides a listing of all project documents, along with a history of those documents. The timeline also displays dated events related to the project.

Dates appear across the top of the timeline, with grey vertical lines below marking that date. You can scroll the timeline horizontally to see into the past or future and scroll vertically if there is a long list of documents.

Each document has its own horizontal row on the timeline. The rightmost document on a row is the current version. The current version of the document will also have its name to the right of it. Older versions of a document appear to the left of the current version at the date when that version was saved. Double-clicking on a document opens that version of the document in the desktop. Older versions of a document than the current version are not editable, but you can copy from them. If you hold the tip of your mouse pointer over a document, a popup "tooltip" window will display when the document was saved, and who modified the document.

Colored vertical lines on the timeline are events. If you hold the tip of your mouse pointer over an event, a popup "tooltip" window will display the name of the event and its time.

Bottom Bar

The bottom bar contains two panels. The left panel contains a list of project members currently logged in.

The right panel contains a persistent chat session for the project. Messages in the chat window are saved between logins.

Concept Map

The remaining open area in the workspace is called a concept map. It is the main navigable object that you can use to plan your project and work on various documents. Clicking on the specific bubbles will open up a window to the right that you can type notes in. The Concept Map Instructions link will help you to use the icons on the concept map.
