Tips for creating your web pages

Everything that you create for this project will be turned into a web page. In general you can just type on your project documents and things will be formatted nicely. Below are a few tips for special kinds of formatting that you might want to do:

Links to Web Pages
To make a link to a URL you can simply put stars (*'s) around the URL. For example, a link to the MCPS home page would look like

and would appear on the web as http://www.mcps.org/.

If you want to make a link between two pages in your workspace, you can simply surround the name of the page with *'s. For example, this help page is linked to the help page for the Web Tool.

Making headlines
To make a heading, start a line with one, two, or three exclamation points (!). For example, "! My headline", "!! My headline", and "!!! My headline" would show up as the following:

My headline

My headline

My headline

Making lists
To make a bulleted or numbered list, start the lines with dashes (-) for bullets or number signs (#) for numbers. For example, here's something you might type in one of your project documents:

 - Smog
 - Acid rain
 - Water pollution

 # Develop vocabulary list
 # Plan experiment
 # Write up results

These will appear on the web as:

  • Smog
  • Acid rain
  • Water pollution

  1. Develop vocabulary list
  2. Plan experiment
  3. Write up results

We'll add more tips as they become relevant to project activities...
