- Identify parts of the interface:
- Timeline
- Concept Map
- User List
- Chat
- Look at user list to see if your partners are logged in.
- Chat with them to see if they are ready to start.
- Let's see what kind of music you and your partners like. One of you needs to create an initial bubble titled "Music". Use the Node tool. You should chat to decide who will make the node. If you both do it, you will get two nodes! If you get two nodes use the arrow (selection) tool to select the node and press the Backspace or Delete key to delete the node. Make sure you agree on who will delete an extra node, or you will probably delete both of them too!
- Now create some nodes for some types of music. One group create nodes for "Jazz" and "Country"; the other group create nodes for "Classical" and "Rock".
- Next, let's link the music type nodes to the main "Music" node. Use one of the Connection (arrow) tools. Draw the arrow starting with the Music node such that each arrow points from Music to the different types.
- Note that to the right of the the Concept Map that you can enter text for each node.
- Take a look at the timeline. The timeline shows the history of the parts to your project. There is a separate line for each node in your concept map. As you change the text for the nodes over the course of the project, icons will appear over time so you can look back on the changes to your work.
- Now it is your turn. Add some nodes for your favorite music artists and link them to the proper music type. Add some text to the artist nodes describing the artist and/or some of their songs titles.
- Explore some of your partners nodes to learn more about what their musical interests are.
