Restoring Virginia's Watersheds

Seedling Survival- 2008


In the spring of 2008, youth planted 24,620 hardwood seedlings to help restore Virginia's watersheds. After one month, 79% of seedlings were still alive. A pre/post-test revealed students had an 81% knowledge gain on how to handle seedlings before planting. This project was supported by grants from the US Fish and Wildlife Foundation, and the Virginia Forestry Educational Foundation.
